Under recent legislation there is a duty to make reasonable provision for disabled persons to have access to buidings. The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 applies to all existing and new buidings where a service is provided to the public or where prople are empoyed. The deadline for compiance was 1st October 2004.
The Building Regulations 2000 (as amended) Part M applies to all new buildings. Approved Document M contains specific requirements for lifting platforms.
