The current ongoing supply process of new industrial doors by sara Loading Bay Specialists to the milling firm of W H Marriage in Chelmsford represents a classic scenario of new technology blending in to a traditional working environment.

WH Marriage & Sons was founded back in 1824 – and the family had actually been farming and milling for at least 100 years prior to that date in the area. The company focuses on a comprehensive range of high grade animal feeds sourcing locally grown produce whenever possible. As you can imagine the manufacturing facilities have to constantly evolve and improve so as to stay ahead in business and achieve the optimum working and safe environment, whilst staying located in their historical site on the edge of the river.

The sara specification – so far – comprises three Sprint 355 high speed doors and also a Roller Shutter door. To the customer, the great advantage of the Sprint technology is that it can be adjusted for its specific location depending on the flow of fork lift trucks and the like, whilst the Roller Shutter door is ideal as a stable closure – especially at night – for the wheat store. The 355 series are fitted to various different packing plants and allow fast and safe traffic of pallets of finished goods.

For Mill Manager Phillip Bunn the new sara input gives him complete closure – in every sense of the word – as regards his multiple criteria “ we had previously used various local suppliers but frankly they really could not offer satisfactory product or service quality. With sara we get specialist advice and attention, beyond the nature of the doors themselves. For example the Roller Shutter door was cheaper than the Sprints, but sara recommended it on the basis that it was the best for the job. They also recognise that the door systems are critical management tools, giving us cost savings – effective performance combined with vital health and safety issues, such as the knockout beams, as well as prevention of dust and vermin egress by virtue of the rubber skirts. We are very happy with the whole package, there is never an issue and we know we are dealing with professionals”.
